TIPS
Storing Fresh Greens
-
BASIL
-
If you want to keep basil in the fridge, make sure the leaves are completely dry before storing it. Wet leaves will turn brown very quickly.
-
Also, do not wrap them in plastic, because the condensation will cause them to turn brown, black, or get spots on them.
-
Store the leaves just like you would your salad greens. Pack them loosely into a container, and place them into the fridge.
-
-
KALE
-
You can store a fresh bunch or bunches of kale in the fridge's crisper drawer.
-
Before storing, wipe away excess moisture, wrap the kale leaves in a paper towel, and place them in a plastic bag.
-
-
SWISS CHARD
-
Do not wash Swiss chard before storing as the exposure to water encourages spoilage.
-
Place chard in a plastic storage bag and wrap the bag tightly around the chard, squeezing out as much of the air from the bag as possible before placing into the refrigerator.
-
-
SPINACH
-
If loose, wrap the spinach in dry paper towels or clean dish towels, place it in a sealed freezer bag or plastic container, and put it in the crisper drawer.
-
If the spinach came in a package of its own, you can simply put a towel or cloth in the container, seal it, and put it in the crisper.

MICROGREENS
-
Lightly wrap any unwashed microgreens in a damp paper towel to store in a Ziploc bag.
-
They should be placed in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
